Taper Candleholder

How do I unbend a taper candle?
If a taper candle (the tall skinny kind) gets bent from being in a candleholder in the heat, how can I straighten it out without deforming it?
It probably will break but..the only thing I know you can try is to run it under warm water til it softens & try to bend it back
