How is a jar lid a screw (simple machine)? and how does it make the job easier-what is the trade off?
A screw is just an incline plane coiled around an axis. The The jar lid is a screw because it has these incline planes going around in a circle (threads). When you turn a jar lid the threads cause the jar lid to turn up or down depending on which direction your turning. I can't think of any examples of what the trade offs are, or on how it makes the job easier simply because the answer is so obvious its hard to explain it any better than what someone already knows.
