What is the best double stroller; tandem or side by side?
Here is the criteria I need to judge:
1. Storage - needs to fit in a trunk and leave room for bags and such.
2. Maneuverability - Easy turning and pushing, fitting through doorways and aisles at malls and such. Also include going over rough terrain like at a wooded trail.
3. Comfort for 2 small children, one infant, one young toddler.
4. Ease of set-up, fold down and cleaning
5. Features - trays, storage basket, cup holders, good shading.
6. Cost - Would like to stay under $200.
My big concern for side by side is that it won't go through doorways or Aile's. My big concern for tandem is that the back kid will kick the front kid's seat and that it will be too big in the trunk. I currently have 3 single strollers and I only like the jogger because the others don't maneuver as well.
I have a double stroller- hate it, and a sit and stand- use it periodically, as well as about 3 other strollers collecting dust, but my favorite combo now is a single jogging stroller for my 2 yr old with my little one in a baby carrier (wrap, pouch, mei tai, etc) when we are out and about for long amounts of time. It is so much easier to maneuver, and baby doesn't fuss like he would after a while in a stroller. Even if you decide to get a big burly stroller (which all tandem, side by side, etc strollers are), I would strongly suggest investing in some sort of carrier- mine are life savers!!
