It seems, to be a disciple of many a 'master' or 'lineage holder', is a money issue. True or False?
I have met people who are 'disciples', of whatever art, that have no real clue about their art, even after a decade or more. As long as they pay, they get their masters grace. I understand that most teachers are only human, and usually aren't paid very well, but, isn't it almost dishonorable to bump someone to the front for financial reasons. Many people will hop from dojo to dojo until they find someone who will stroke them, and will pay for the stroking. Why do the 'garage' practicioners seem to have a higher ratio of quality students, and less money? Is it a matter of corruption, or survival?
I realize it is a bit more complicated than 'true or false'.
I think it is a matter of pride, the guys with the big impressive store fronts, are businessmen, and buisnessmen are in business to make money. so, they will stroke everyones pride to get thier money. there is no quality training in these places, you wont learn fundamental philosophies, you will just learn to hit.
The guy working in his home does it because he likes it, and the teaching gives him satisfaction. He is passing down to his student knowlege from ages past, and it has been this way for thousands of years, a student, and a master
