What do you have to do to visit the naval base in Goose Creek SC?
My husband is graduating boot camp, leaving on Friday, arriving on Saturday in SC. I wanted to know if it would be possible to see him on Sunday as he will have liberty and what I would have to do to get on base. I've never visited a base of any type before and I haven't gotten my military id because his recruiter lost my birth certificate and social security card. I now have my birth certificate and am waiting on my replacement SS card to actually go get it. I thought he would probably have to meet me or something to actually get me in. I've just never done this before so any help at all would be great as I have no one I could ask.

The BX and Commissary areas don't require a pass or vehicle sticker. The housing areas require you to go through a gate. If he meets you outside, let him drive the car. His military ID will be good enough for everyone in the car (I do this with co-workers when they need to renew their badges). The north side of the base (the Goose Creek entrance) is just drive in the main road. I would make arrangements to meet him at the BX or McDonald's. Even if your car doesn't have a sticker, he can go with you and get a 3 year base sticker in about 15 minutes.
The ID people on base are pretty good. If you have a birth certificate, you may not even need your SS card. You can ask and see if they will take care of that. You should already be in DEERS and they may not need ANY documents other than his signature and your signature on the form.
