Is it necessary to have steel reinforcement for a 1.33m wide X 2.09m high internal glass block wall?
I am getting a glass block wall built for internal use; about 1.33m wide X 2.09m high. However, the builder did not use any steel reinforcement rods and now the wall is half-built already.
Can I do without the rods, or do I have to start all over again?
The wall is framed by timber and has panel anchors.
Short answer is that you will *probably* get away with it. 4.3' x 6.5' (for those of us on the old currency) is not a huge size for a glass block wall to be un-reinforced.
But now you must keep in mind that the security and strength of that wall are seriously compromised. That is the primary purpose of the horizontal mesh and vertical rods. Without them, a swift kick will topple the wall.
