Deer ate tops off sweet potatoes in the garden?
Deer ate the top off of my grandfather's sweet potato crop. All that's left sticking out of the ground are sticks. Are sweet potatoes fairly hardy...will the plants grow new leaves and survive?
Thanks!! My poor grandfather, he loves to garden and this was his first year to try sweet potatoes. Darn deer!!
That is too bad about the deer. I think it is time to dig up the sweet potatoes. The purpose of the leaves is to provide food for the sweet potato tubers. If the leaves are gone then the sweet potatoes will suffer. The leaves might regrow, but it would be at the expense of the potatoes.
