How/Can I empty votive candles for use as drinking glasses?
There's plenty of groovy tall votive candles that would make unique glassware.
1. Is it safe (residues/temperature threshold) ?
2. If so, how would one go about emptying them completely (outside of burning them for days) ?

1. Makes perfect sense.
2. Boiling water works but it takes off the "paint" stuff. They must be made different than my ol' Burger King Star Wars glasses. Guess I'm going to have to check out some different types of La Santisima Muerte votives.
If they are the kind with paraffin, just heat in boiling water. The wax melts at less than 200F (90C). For the lamp oil version, just dump them out.
1. Paraffin used to be used in home canning, and encases many imported cheeses. There appears to be no concern about ingesting small quantities of it.
2. In either case, I'd then run them through a dishwasher 3 or 4 times choosing an extra hot cycle and add copious soap the first wash or two.
