Candles - wax tarts?

what are they? how do you burn them? do they sit on a plate, candleholder, what?

I just wanted to elaborate a little bit on what the others have said. First of all, you don't need an electric melter that costs 10.00...you can buy a tart melter at just about any craft store for at least 1/2 that. You just put a tealight under the top part where you place the wax and light it. It melts the wax just as well as an electric one. The only drawback is you need to buy tea lights all the time. I have both types all over my house and must admit that I like the electric ones better only because they are always on but for a beginner the tealight kind is just fine. You can always make a bigger investment later.

There are many different types of melts (tarts). They come in many different sizes and are made from many different types of wax. I have found the soy melts to be the best, they last longer and hold more scent. You can check out the website I listed below.
