owers and others pink flowers. This can be best explained by?

B is correct. However, the reason is different to what many people think.
In acidic soil, hydrangeas produce blue flowers. This is because in acidic soil, nutrients are more readily available. The blue colour involves iron compounds, and iron is readily absorbed from acidic soil.
In alkaline soil, iron is locked up as insoluble iron carbonate or iron hydroxide. The hydrangea cannot absorb the iron from this soil and will not produce blue dye. Instead, the flowers turn pink.
