Welcome to Cape Breton Candles. If you're looking to add warmth and elegance to your home, candles are a great (and inexpensive) way to do this. If it's been a while since you last shopped for candles, you may be surprised at the number of options out there today. While each home is different and everyone has unique tastes, here is a general sample of the type of candles you can expect to find:

Taper Candles are what most people think of when they think about candles. They are traditional candles that fit in candlestick holders and are often found on dinner tables to add an element of romance or elegance. Taper candles are also commonly used in weddings as they come in a variety of colors that can complement any decor and any season. Taper candles are available in a variety of lengths, although 12 inches is usually standard. For convenience, it is usually best to shop for taper candles that are fragrence free, smokeless and dripless.

Votive Candles can be used in a variety of different ways. In the past, they had been used mostly in churches, but today you'll find that votive candles are used in many homes and they provide a beautiful accent to just about any decor. One of the benefits of votive candles is that you don't have to worry about wax drips or spills if they are in a votive candleholder. The small size of votive candles also allows you use many at once, which provides you with lots of options when decorating your home. Votive candles around the bathtub can improve your relaxation and comfort as you take a bath lit by candlelight.
A great tip when using votive candles in your living room is to line them up on your fireplace mantle using candles of varying heights. Also, try to make use of the variety of scents to add to the mood of your room...the scent of magnolias is great for the summer, while vanilla is more appropriate during the winter. Be creative!

Globe Candles have become more popular in recent years. The round shape allows you to add a different element to your decor and provides a feel that is different from other types of available candles. As with most other types, globe candles are also available in a variety of colors and scents to match just about any home decor.

Pillar Candles are ideal for areas where you are looking to add something a little more substantial to the decor. Their "chunky" shape allows you to draw attention without having to spend too much money. You can use pillar candles of varying heights to create a "set" that helps define the room. To help draw the eye's attention, it's always best to create sets using an odd number of pillar candles (three or five usually works great).

Floating Candles are a great way to lighten up standing water. Placing a few floating candles in your pool can create a beautiful effect at night. The ambiance it creates will make any outdoor party or event more memorable and will draw the attention of your guests.

Tin Candles are most appropriate if you need a temporary decoration since they come with covers and can be put away easily. Since they are very inexpensive, portable and come of a variety of scents, we've even heard of frequent travelers using tin candles to liven up hotel rooms.
